The Faith Based Partnership Initiative
How transformed people…can help us transform Weinland Park
An overview of our work in Weinland Park
In 1999, The Caldwell Family, (Robert his wife
Michelle and their children Caleb, Gabriel, Gabriella, and now
Charis who was born in Weinland Park) moved into Weinland Park,
a low-income neighborhood south of the OSU Campus area, and
began pioneering a multi-racial multi-ethnic community of faith
called Mosaic.
In 2002, following his vision to see the church
provide "whole life" support and spiritual direction for people,
Robert began a community development effort called the Faith
Based Partnership Initiative to facilitate the development of
partnerships between churches, community and civic organizations,
and businesses. These partnerships are intended to help people
transition from a lifestyle of poverty and government dependence,
to one of faith and meaningful community contribution to the
community. We attempt to do this through pre & post employment
support services and the development of "career tract" training
and employment partnerships with businesses, providing safe
and affordable housing and promoting educational enrichment
and life long learning.
Our primary areas of focus in Weinland Park are:
Safe & Affordable Housing
Employment & Vocational Education
Academic Enrichment for youth and adults
Current Plans/Opportunities/Activities for involvement

Community Revitalization FOCUS (Faith Organizations Creating
Urban Success) Fund - is an investment fund dedicated to revitalizing
and stabilizing low-income center city neighborhoods by investing
in residential and commercial real estate development projects.
Through this fund, Community Revitalization Associates, LLC
works to maximize the opportunity that urban community development
provides to lift poor families out of the cycle of poverty and
help them to become productive participants in the community,
the local economy and society at large.
Weinland Park Vocational Educational and Micro-Enterprise Resource
Center -
Opportunity to provide job training and support for would-be
entrepreneurs and micro-enterprises. There are members of a
local congregation in Columbus own a building in Weinland Park
we believe would be a good location. We have engaged Leon Humphries
(HKI Associates) an architect who will provide renderings to
help us begin to cast a vision for the center. We have approached
the Ohio Community Development Finance Fund to provide both
a pre-development grant to help put the project together and
financing for the project.
Weinland Park Elementary School Academic Support -
A member of local congregation is heading up the development
of team of volunteers to work with students at the Weinland
Park Elementary School.
